3-2-1 Fearless Launching!

For many of us, waking up to dozens – or better yet, hundreds – of purchase orders in our inbox every day is the ultimate entrepreneur’s dream. We’d love to have a product or service that sells itself, so we can travel the world, volunteer at the local animal shelter, or spend time with our kids.

OK, so that dream of traveling the world is mostly my dream. And maybe I’m the only one who has this fantasy of selling out my first training course on the first day of registration.  Even though I know the odds are better for winning the lottery than selling out on the first day (or even at all), I can’t help but imagine what it would be like.

You see, I already have a training program in the works.  It’s called Marketing That Rocks, and as I mentioned in last week’s post, one of my business goals is to launch it this fall.  I’ve mapped out a timeline for recording the training materials and created a checklist for the technology pieces.  The sales page is mostly written, and I know who my ideal client is.

It all sounds pretty fabulous, doesn’t it?  As if my dream was at the edge of my fingertips?

There’s just one small problem.

I don’t know to launch it.

So Many Moving Parts, So Little Time

It may sound funny to hear me admit that I don’t know how to launch my program.  After all, I’m all about teaching my clients to use websites, social media, email lists, and blogs to promote their business. Shouldn’t launches be right up my alley?

The truth is, there are a lot more moving parts to a launch than just the online marketing piece. There’s the website part – writing your sales page, creating a membership area, and figuring out how to process payments. There’s the communication part – planning your video teaser series, your emails, and your social media posts.

And then there’s actually getting it all done, which is a whole different challenging than knowing how to get it done.

Given all these moving parts, I would much rather pay for someone to teach me what I don’t know.  And if I’m going to pay someone, I might as well learn from the best.

Enter Fearless Launching

When Anne Samoilov’s Fearless Launching program was first announced in February, I was delighted. Anne was the brains behind the B-School 2011 launch, as well as all of Laura Roeder’s launches. I loved (and bought) them all. They were exciting, interesting, and clearly showed how awesome the programs were without being “sales-y” or gimmicky.

But I wasn’t ready to launch in February.  So I reluctantly put her course on my wish list and concentrated on figuring out exactly what I wanted my program to look like.

Fast forward to August, where Anne announced over email that Fearless Launching would be starting again in September.  If there had been a “register here” button in that first email, I would have clicked it.

As it is, I read every blog post and waited impatiently for her registration party last week. And the very next day, I signed up for Fearless Launching.

What’s Coming Next

Fearless Launching starts September 10th, and I couldn’t be more excited.  It’s the first big training course I’ve taken in over a year, and I can already tell that the course will help me figure out how to plan and coordinate all these moving launch pieces.  You can find out more about Fearless Launching on Anne’s website.

Leave a comment below and tell me about your big fall launch plans.   Are you planning a new website, a blog, an email list, or a new product or service?  I’d love to share this launch journey with you!
